HAERTS // Discovery

You know that feeling you get when you crave something but you're unsure of what to do to satisfy your appetite. Well, HAERTS gave me exactly what I needed despite me being unaware that I even needed them in the first place.

A modern psychedelic band hailing from Brooklyn, formed by members from all around the globe. Their beginnings are unusual; they met at the Iceland Academy of the Arts and somehow ended up with Columbia Records.

Nini Fabi's vocals captivate you instantly. Ben Gebert's keyboard melodies and composition skills prove to be a force to be reckoned with. Garrett Ienner lets his passion and creativity flow freely through guitar, and Derek McWilliams' bass is subtle but forceful.

Their album, Haerts, is one of the best debuts I've heard in a long while. The album has an uplifting start, a warm invitation to a musical journey. Each song brings out all sorts of emotions, thoughts, and memories. The climax is defined by No One Needs to Know and Giving Up. There might have been a few heartbreaking bumps along the way, but the journey ends in a calm and peaceful manner. Haerts will leave you breathless and spellbound, wanting and ready for an another journey soon after.

On their Facebook page, their bio describes them as an "international constellation". They are newly born stars, and I hope someday everyone will realize how bright and steady their light shines.

Song that got me hooked: Giving Up
